UPDATE 1-Indonesia’s West Java hit by quake,no damage reports
JAKARTA, May 18 (Reuters) – An earthquake measuring 6.0 forward the Richter scale hit the main Indonesian island of Java without ceasing Tuesday, shaking high-rise buildings in the capital Jakarta.
There were nay reports of casualties or damage.
An automated text message sent ~ the agency of the meteorological agency said that the centre of the quake was 13 kilometres subterraneous and 147 kilometres southeast of Sukabumi, West Java. No tsunami sign was issued.
The United States Geological Survey recorded a magnitude 5.4 tremble 69 miles (111 kilometres) south-south west of the West Java city of Bandung.
